Ciao!

I’m Matteo (Matt in English) But Italians naturally throw in an ‘0’  wherever possible. When embarking on a new trip, I worry about opening my backpack, in case my mother has climbed in. I love pasta.

Born on July 19th in the charming town of Recanati, Italy, I share a birthplace with the renowned poet Giacomo Leopardi. Growing up surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of blue seas and rolling hills, I can relate to his melancholic inspiration, but don’t worry, I’m definitely not a sad soul like him!

My childhood was spent in Jesi, where I absorbed all there was to know about the sea and nature, especially the importance of caring for our environment.

After completing high school, I embarked on a journey at the Università Politecnica delle Marche in Ancona, Italy, delving into the realms of Marketing and Management for the first two years. Then, an exciting opportunity took me to Stockholm, where I studied at Stockholm University and conducted research on The Swedish Model for my thesis. Upon returning to Ancona, I completed my Master’s Degree, with the final leg of my academic adventure taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, where I focused my thesis on “Why Microfinance is not working in Kenya.”

Fast forward to the present, and you’ll find me in Amsterdam, leading the Nike Direct Analytics team at Nike. My mission? To unravel the mysteries of all athletes* and fuel decisions that shape incredible consumer experiences. It’s a blast!

Before my Amsterdam adventure, I rocked Berlin like a boss. There, I was at the helm of the Product Analytics team at HelloFresh, the ultimate global meal kit delivery service. We were growing like crazy, even after going public. We were expanding our team by over 100% each year, and let me tell you, it was hands down the most awesome team I’ve ever worked with.

It all started in Milan, where I kicked off my career as a Marketing Specialist at Marsh & McLennan, a global powerhouse in brokerage and risk management. From there, I jetted off to London, joining the rockstars at lastminute.com, a major player in the online travel scene. And if that wasn’t enough, I took my digital analysis skills to Arcadia, a fashion company that owns a bunch of fantastic high street clothing retailers like Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Topman, Topshop, Wallis, and even the Outfit chain.
